Druids Glen Golf Course

Renowned Course in Co. Wicklow

Celtic Cross Design at
the 8th Hole

Nestled between the Wicklow Mountains and the Irish Sea, Druids Glen is an award winning luxury golf course. Among the many landscape features is the Celtic Cross. I was hired to refurbish this striking section of the course on the hill at the 8th hole.

I gave the Box hedge celtic cross, a European makeover. My design reflects the European Union Flag: An evergreen Yew hedge circle with 12 stars represented by spirea snowboard surrounds the cross and is back dressed with Pittisporum Bannow Bay...a nod to the owner who is from Co Wexford.

Framing the centerpiece on both sides I added  celtic lattice pattern planted in evergreen Yew.

Across the Course

I was also tasked with plantings and design across the course, adding to the oversall beauty and continuity of the grounds.
